Weekend in the Hunter

July 9, 2012 · No Comments

Well it was raining in Sydney on the weekend and once again I headed out of town to check on some hives in the Hunter region. We were having a bonfire that night and I was due to have a look at the girls the next day.Bonfire

Sunday was lovely once the mist burnt off with quite high temperatures in the sun. It was a different case in the shade with the ambient temp being about 9C . The girls were nowhere to be seen until the mist went; then they were out bringing in lots of pollen and also nectar.

I did a quick inspection and they are loaded with honey again so we are going to have to rob in the next few weeks before it candies and pack them down as it is getting colder - although there hasn't been a decent frost yet. I decided to move the hives forward to give them some more sun as one of them was a bit damp.
